Free printable sight word games

Four games, generated for every Dolch and Fry level — 16 lists in all. Reading the same words on a worksheet gets old fast; these put them in front of a child as a game instead. Print, cut, play.

Bingo

Eight unique cards per list, plus a sheet of calling cards.

Hand out a card each, cut up the caller sheet, and draw words one at a time. Players find the word and cover it — five in a row wins. The classic whole-class sight word game.

Roll & Read

A six-column board headed by die faces.

Roll a die, find the column with that many pips, and read a word from it. Cross the word off and pass the die on. First to clear a column wins. Works for one child or a small group.

Word search

A 14 × 14 letter grid per puzzle, with answer keys.

Find and circle every word in the list. Words read across and down on the earlier lists, with diagonals added from Grade 2 up. Good quiet independent practice.

Memory match

Cut-out card pairs, split into decks of 12.

Cut out one set, shuffle, and lay the cards face down. Turn two over and read them aloud — a matching pair is a keeper, otherwise turn them back. Most pairs wins.
